How to gamify my eLearning course? Should I gamify my course? If so, how? Nowadays, Gamification is in everywhere. Different companies have embraced the idea of gamification. Gamification is used from marketing companies, from customer service industry or even in education institutions to enhance the learning experience. So, having this playful atmosphere it seems that eLearning courses should be part from that trendy as well. 

Should I gamify my eLearning course?

After doing some initial research you may end up concluding that it is better to discard this approach as building a game costs a hundred of bucks.

But hey! Gamification is NOT about creating a game but taking advantage of game elements, game mechanics that enables you to achieve the 3 M’s of a learning experience:

  • Meaningful
  • Memorable
  • Motivational

Of course you can create a game like course or reproduce a game like environment, but it’s not mandatory though.

By delivering an eLearning course we …

  • We want to achieve engagement from students so they’re more likely to recall information or follow a process or put in practice in real or simulate environments
  • We want students learn how to apply things in real life, we want to motivate them to perform some behaviours in real worlds. Knowledge is ok but application is what we want
  • We want to optimize the efforts by carry on training programmes.
